Even amidst Covid-19 , we never forget to celebrate our Festivals . Though these pandemic separated us from our get togethers but in the current scenario all celebrate with their families and friends . We all just need an excuse to have meet-ups and sink deep into them . We all are enthusiasts for snacks and gifts . So let’s start about the main colourful Festival of Spring .

Holi , the firsthand idea that strikes the very moment after just adorning this word with great enthusiam is COLOURS , the vibrant colours , the different shades and the vivid complexion . Adjectives fall short for describing colours . It is best known for the colour powders that people smear on each other, leaving coated in colours by the end of the day . Although the festival originated in India and is still widely celebrated as a religious festival . It has been adopted in many places around the world. It is celebrated in many countries and subcontinents as well like South Africa , United States , Canada , Australia , Trinidad , Mauritius and many more . Bangladesh and Pakistan also do celebrate this where they get immersed in happiness and vibrant colours .

Holi festival is also known as Festival of Spring , Love and Colours . It is just a festive day to remind us Good always wins over Evil . So now lets know the history behind this beautiful festive .

Holi word is derived from the Evil King’s sister Holika . Holika was blessed by Gods in a way that she was immune to fire, that she wouldn’t get burned and his Brother Hiranyakashyap was also blessed by Lord Vishnu , the supreme King that Hiranyakashyap cannot succumb to death or cannot be killed by a human or an animal . The demon king had a son Prahalad who was hated by his father as Prahalad was a devotee of Lord Vishnu . Hiranayakashyap wanted to rule over everyone and beat Gods so his son never worshipped him rather he believed Lord Vishnu . The king decided to kill Prahalad. Prahalad was thrown off a cliff, attacked by the king’s soldiers, crushed by elephants and many such antics were used by Hiranayakashyap but all these attempts failed as his belief was so strong enough for Lord Vishnu . Then the Demon King once decided to kill his son through the power of her sister Holika . As she was an immune to fire , so He told her to take Prahalad along with her and sit in fire . He thought Prahlad could succumb to death now but obviously something unfolded . Instead Prahalad burning in fire , Holika got burnt into ashes . As Prahalad was chanting prayers of Lord Vishnu and Holika was misusing her powers for killing him, so Vishnu turned out all the plans on Holika and Hiranayakashyap .

Lord Vishnu shown that Evil can never win over Good . He disguised himself as Narsingha who was half human and half lion as Hiranayakashap could not be killed by a human or an animal or in sky or land . He crowned his devotee Prahalad as king . So as a symbol of Holika Dahan , people lit bornfires to destroy their inner devils and to celebrate victory of Good .

So we can summarize that even if we are stronger than anyone , never misuse your powers for your evil intentions . Because God has always His eyes on you . And we have all heard about Karma which is a reflection of your actions and deeds .

It basically symbolises the Eternal Love of Lord Krishna and Radha . Krishna was anxious whether Radha would accept Him with his dark complexion as Krishna was dark and Radha was fair. So to remove his perplexion , Mother Yashoda advised Krishna to smear Radha’s face with colours and that’s how celebrations began .

It also signifies of forgiving , forgetting and starting a new one . Forget the past , live your present and carve your future . Like Colours , bad times and good times are also temporary . Rather it is a cycle . They come and go and at last we should hustle and pave it because instead of ranting our problems , we can find solutions and turn it into our favours . Bura na mano Holi hai :)
