Let’s not be a part of the noise and accept that Mental health is often underrated, but we all know how much it has to be considered enough so that none feels awkward mentioning it. It’s as important as your physical health and essential for your overall quality of life. It’s okay to be down, but at the end of the day, you have to know what’s important to you.

Always choose quality over quantity . Quality of life depends on a sound mental health .

When we come to mental sickness, we all have been there no matter how much we try to conceal it beneath us. It’s all just a matter of acceptance that yes we can suffer through mental illness.
The most expensive thing in this world is serenity, especially with yourself. We don’t consider peace to be the most important trait in us either embedded or building it. Having peace with yourself means loving and choosing yourself over everyone and most importantly that’s not being selfish, that’s caring for yourself. Self-care lets you increase your energy to fight the sickness you are suffering.

So let’s discuss some ways to fight against mental illness. Obviously will not be able to advise like a doctor but just some subtle suggestions.

Go for a solution

We keep ranting about our problems instead of looking for solutions. I am too aware that not every problem has a solution, but looking for one or accepting it as what it is is the best way to deal with it.
When we accept it and start working on it, we are one step closer to curing our mental state. Instead of regretting that the situation could have been better, work on it and make the magic happen. You will progress with peace with yourself.

Mere acts of self care can have a great impact too .

Accept yourself as a GIFT

God is both the creator and the destroyer. He has created us the way we are. Accepting us and listening to our inner voice is, therefore, difficult but not impossible. Let’s not envy others and be jealous of the way God has created others. We will be different, definitely, but getting insecure about yourself is stepping closer to getting sick and hurting yourself. Let’s accept who we are and enhance ourselves with the traits we embed within us. Insulting yourself is, hence, equal to insulting God. When we look at ourselves the way we are, the world will look at us the way we want it to. If someone is getting better, then take it as inspiration to fulfill your aspiration.

Remember we can do anything but we cannot do everything

Sound mental health

Some activities do exist in our day-to-day lives and we skip them unintentionally. Let’s discuss:-

  1. Body workout: Body workouts are necessary to distract yourself from negativity and improvises your sleep cycle. Physical exercises boost the confidence within yourself and help you to accomplish your goals. Exercise stimulates the release of Endorphins, which are natural chemicals in the brain that act as mood elevators and pain relievers.
  2. Stay connected: Increasing social connection and seeking help or interacting with people socially will let you and your mental health be at peace. For eg: visiting a beautiful place or sitting at the seashore or visiting cafes and interacting with different people will let you realize what else the world is other than the corner of your house. This will distract you from the sickness you are suffering.
  3. A touch: You must have heard about a shower during a breakdown. Yes, it works !!! For me, a cold shower or a genuine bath with cold water does magic to me. It literally removes the pain or the headache I go through. Sometimes playing with kids or pets can help shift your attention away from negative thoughts or rumination, promoting mindfulness and a break from distressing mental states.
  4. Good taste: I always look for delicious food when I am not in a state for fighting against my mental state. A delicious meal or any deserts helps me to shift my focus and provides a pleasant distraction. Food has always been my Saviour. Again it induces Endorphins, which are natural mood boosters, and temporarily uplift your mood.
  5. Decluttering messy cupboards: It has always worked for me as a therapy, trust me !!! Arranging the pieces of stuff and organizing them lets me heave a sigh. Messy cupboards are though not a thing to bother us in the upset mental state but when you fix the mess will help you to fix your messy mental state simultaneously. Try this out.

There are still plenty of ways to get some relief. I’ve only mentioned a couple of them but trust me, they work. It’s not possible to make anyone happy, but you can create your own happiness. Smiling, enjoying, pleasure, etc ( many other synonyms of happiness) are the features that you can control by yourself. You’re not responsible for keeping everyone happy, and you can’t burden anyone else to keep you happy. And one more thing I want to add:-

Never underestimate yourself . You might not be aware that you are someone’s idol. Maybe you’re carrying yourself with strong conviction, which might be inspiring.
